- The Exile of Time, 1964 - Raymond Cummings (1887-1957) is regarded as one of the founders of the science fiction pulp genre. Cummings wrote hundreds of novels and short stories for pulp magazines in the 1920s and 1930s. ("Pulps," named for the rough, inexpensive wood pulp paper used for publications, reached their peak popularity in the 1920s.) Publishers reprinted some of these works well after Cummings's death.
